Learn the essentials of performing with a puppet, using an array of puppets collected over Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s 40+ year history! Facilitated by a leading WA performer, this workshop combines fun with practical skills in storytelling and puppetry.
Founded in 1981 in Fremantle, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is Western Australia’s longest-running theatre company and a recognised leader in puppetry nationally and internationally.
Each year, the company presents seasons in Perth and tours regionally, nationally, and abroad, engaging more than 200,000 people in the joy of storytelling through puppetry.
This event takes place as part of Leedy Artfest, so come down early to have a squiz at the art markets, live entertainment, and creative activations! You are also welcome to join in on SPPT's free-flow puppet-making workshop prior to the performance workshop (11am-2pm, suitable for all ages).
The workshop will take place in Evergreens, our private function room, and is best enjoyed by kids from (approximately) 7 to 12 years of age! It includes:
Parents will enjoy the opportunity to have a drink or afternooon snack on our sunny Garden Terrace during the workshop, or head downstairs to The Leederville Hotel for a Spare Parts Arts Talk (geared towards grown-ups).
